CENTRAL INDIA / OVERVIEW >>

Central India is dominated by the huge state of Madhya Pradesh and the adjacent state of Chhattisgarh. Madhya Pradesh, known as the heart of India, has no coast line and is bordered by five other states. MP has a rich cultural heritage and some of the best National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in the whole of India. There are a number of domestic airports and good rail links - but travel by car can be arduous as some roads are in a poor state. Chhattisgarh is still developing its tourist infrastructure and is currently a great place to visit if you are interested in tribal culture.

Major attractions & cities of this area:
Khajuraho; Orchha; Gwalior; Bhopal (state capital of MP); the National Parks of Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Panna, Pench and Satpura in Madhya Pradesh. Bhoramdeo; Achanakmar Reserve; Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary; Sirpur, Kanker and Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh.

Best time to visit: October to April
